FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Open answers about giving, shared stewardship, and caring for one another.

What is covenant giving?

Covenant giving is a voluntary, Spirit-led commitment to generosity rooted in relationship rather than obligation. In the New Testament and the Book of Acts, believers gave freely as an expression of shared life, trust in God’s provision, and devotion to Jesus as Lord. Covenant giving reflects our belief that everything we have belongs to Christ—where our treasure goes, our hearts follow—and that God is faithful to provide as we walk in obedience.

Is covenant giving required to be part of The Movement?

No. While we do believe that covenant giving is an important part of a healthy community of believers, it is never required to belong, participate, or stay connected. The Movement is built on relationship, not obligation.

Why does The Movement receive financial support?

Financial support allows us to serve communities and leaders, foster global connection, and respond to needs with care and integrity—without placing burdens on local communities.

How are funds from covenant giving used?

Covenant giving supports community planting, leadership care, global connection, and outreach efforts. We steward resources prayerfully and with accountability to serve the whole Movement.

Is covenant giving local or global?

Both. Giving helps meet local needs within communities while also strengthening relationships and support across the global Movement.

Do leaders receive personal financial benefit?

No. Covenant giving is not about enriching individuals. Financial support exists to sustain mission, care for people, and enable shared work—not personal gain. That being said, when possible, we do support our leaders in the same way we would support any member of our community. We recognize the personal sacrifice many leaders make in serving others, and when resources allow, we come alongside them with care, honor, and practical support. However, this support exists to sustain healthy leadership, not to elevate anyone above the community.
